Bridgerton – Love it? Or—?

(Disclaimer: - ‘This is my opinion’.) I loved it. Watched the whole series over two nights. Brilliant portrayal of the era. But… Yep, isn’t there always a BUT? You know you can’t please all of the people all of the time anyway, and I’m not usually one to comment, argue or criticize, BUT… Sometimes, one just has to say stuff. I write Regency romance so I think I have a bit of a grasp on the society of the time and I do a lot of research to ensure I get things right. For t...

The Virtual Traveller - Ghent, Flanders.

The last time I went  Virtual Traveling it was to Honfleur, France for a scene in 'Rules of Rebellion', Bk.3. in 'Regency Rebelles' series.Today I was researching Ghent for the opening scenes of 'Debt of Honor', Bk.4. in the series. It's highly unlikely I will get to visit these places - especially given current travel restrictions and the inescapable fact I need two new knees! So I did the next best thing - and very grateful I am that I can. Google Maps, what can I say? Mwah!My hero and her...

The 'Regency Rebelles' are here.

It's pretty exciting to finally get this series off the ground and into cyberspace. The opening novella, 'Propriety Be Damned', was challenging to write because Lord Henry Davencourt, Earl of Stannesford is 'different', and would not conform! Today he would probably have been diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome. In 1788 he just didn't fit in. Big, handsome, introspective, prone to saying the wrong things, and reclusive, Henry also has odd obsessions. One lifelong obsession being butterflies....

Launch of a 1000 Ships - well, 3 Books Actually!

It all started when Leigh D'Ansey ( www.leighdanseyauthor.com ) said, 'Why don't we...?' So we did, & the Anthology, 'A Tangle of Tinsel and Tartan' ( www.amazon.com/dp/B08M945JBR )  came into being. We each contributed a short story of about 5000 words, which contained a baby and a reference to Christmas - since we planned to offer it as a little festive gift. Yes, it's FREE! Leigh D'Ansey's story is a delightful Regency version of the original Christmas story and pertains t...

The Virtual Traveller - Honfleur, Normandy, France.

The Virtual Traveler. Writing historical romance often requires research and the internet is the most amazing tool. In this blog I aim to share some of the places I’ve virtually been, fun facts I’ve learned, and anything interesting that popped up along the journey. 6 Sept 2020 Today I visited Honfleur at the mouth of the Seine River, Normandy, France. My characters had been racing across France from Paris with an English lady they have rescued during the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. S...

BLOG on Blogging

Blogging. Countless times I have made brave resolutions to write a regular Blog. Like many resolutions, they have fallen by the wayside. Non-fiction to me, is boring to either read or write. However, with this beautiful new website I will make yet another effort to write regularly and share with you, the reader, some of the things I love about the Regency era. ...
